Her codename in the Chinese version of Plants vs. In a Q/A stream hosted by Laura Shigihara, she revealed that the pink beanie that Cattail wears is a reference to a beanie that she wears and that George Fan included a beanie as a tribute to her. Her name is a pun on the name "Cattail" as she resembles a cat whose tail is a reed. Her face and head, however, are based on the domestic cat, Felis catus.
